Freecom 2x

It all works how it should it's loud and clear, but after maybe 30 minutes to an hour of use the left speaker already sounds like it's blown up and my volume has never been above 75% so that's a little disappointing.

I’ve tried a couple of different brands of headsets but yours is Very Nice , Audio quality is spot on with the upgraded JBL 45mm speakers

Been riding motorcycles for over 40 years and this unit is amazing. I bought mine at my local Cycle Great store here in Knoxville, Tennessee. Awesome sound and a music volume you can actually hear while riding. Cardio keep on doing what your doing because your products are awesome.

My name is Joseph Negron and I am a SCNG veteran. I was involved in a hit and run motorcycle accident about a week ago and I was wearing a helmet with the Cardo Freecom 2X when I crashed. My motorcycle flipped at 60 mph and I went over the handle bars and the first thing to hit the pavement was my helmet on the side with my Cardo control box. My visor flew off on impact and after sliding about 60 feet. I came to what just happened and "Blank Space" by Taylor Swift was still echoing throughout my helmet. The durability of the control box and wiring that is infused in this system is well placed and definitely worth the investment. I will definitely be purchasing another Freecom 2X system when I can afford to ride again and will be a lifelong customer to this company. I can't thank you enough Cardo for developing this system and putting in the time and resources to make this sound system work in any situation.

I was very skeptical about purchasing the Freecom 2X but once I put them on my helmet and my wife’s helmet, the sound and clarity was beyond my expectations!!!

The people who are saying they sound like a tincan installed them wrong or have a don’t have a quality helmet. when I turned them on for the first time I was surprised how good they sounded because in the reviews I read all said they suck they in fact DO NOT! It’s lacking bass makes up for vocals I can’t wait to try it at highway speed which is the purpose I bought it for! Extremely happy about my purchase!!Update: took it on the highway for the first time today was loud and clear even going past 80+ on a loud Harley definitely will buy it for my ole lady also!

I upgraded from the Spirit, which I quite liked. This was worth the extra few bucks. Sound quality is excellent, great features, easy to install, and easy to connect and pair. Definitely recommend

Update (9/17/23): some additional observations from using this for the past 6-weeks : 1) The FM reception has been much better than the cheaper units; I have five FM presets, and most work well; the ability to move FWD and BACK between the presets is very useful. 2) Certain apps do not work correctly, but that may be related to using a beta iOS version (17). 3) If you intend to connect to your phone, it's better to have BT enabled on your phone, and THEN powering on the Cardo; if you do it in a different order, sometimes the Cardo won't connect correctly. Changing rating to 5-stars, worth the extra cost.Summary: I tried the six (6) lower cost units below (most were Vine reviews), and they are all lacking for one reason or another (mainly FM reception and music controls). So after more research I decided to purchase this Cardo Freecom 2x.Use Case: I use this for daily community (solo rider), so I have no need for the intercom function. Primarily use it for FM radio, and secondary for bluetooth playback from my mobile phone (iPhone 12). So the first important feature is FM radio reception and station control, and second most important is playback control. My everyday helmet is an Arai Corsair-X, which is notoriously louder than other street helmets. I also we foam ear plugs, so the volume usually needs to be maxed out, and still sometimes isn't loud enough at highway cruising speeds.Observations: The one feature that sold me on the Cardo system is the over the air (OTA) software update. First new headset in years and these are amazing! Updated software after charging, bench tested working and started install. These have to be exactly on your ears to get all the great sound. They're a concert in a shell. The wheel has a great feel and is easy to find but has a delayed response, I'd guess it's a software prompt. You can just Bluetooth these to your phone for calls/GPS/music or the Android app offers big, easy buttons like Android auto/car play and accommodates Pandora or any 3rd party music app as long as you open it first. The app has radio presets and honestly works very well. The JBL speakers offer great sound across the spectrum, even bass tones but no speaker rattling power thankfully. The only downside so far is the speakers are thick (and broad)! My modular flip helmet has no pockets for speakers so these caused incredibly awful pressure just in test fitting. It took several tries to make sure I had the speakers in the absolute best spots. Then I traced and dug pockets out of the foam very, very carefully a little at a time until perfect. I found a steep bit made a sharp edged speaker well losing as little foam as possible. Wiring and connectors tucked into the lining at the bottom and can't be felt at all. Not a tough install and no more pressure on the ears. Temple pressure headaches would have totally been a deal breaker. Some of the pics I'd seen made the controller look ginormous and I wasn't really looking forward to that. Thankfully, the size and depth is very reasonable and the jointed adhesive mount plate went on easily. I opted for the boom mic but kept it close to the cheek pad as I'll rarely use it and don't want it in the way of pulling the chin bar down. I hope this helps anyone in the same situation.  Planning a Long Ride with a friend soon and buying a Helmet Intercom became a prioritised topic for our pre planning phase. Fortunately, I managed to find this Gem of a product that doesn't disappoint.Sound is great by JBL, mic is descent, and the app is very intuitive to use. I might consider buying a second unit from Cardo brand for my friend since this unit has a universal pairing ability that can connect to all Bluetooth devices.PS. Careful on the volume, it is quite loud at max😊🔊❤️❤️❤️❤️Thank you Amazon. Love you

Install was completed using the Shoei RF-1400, the clip required a bit of force, but it's fine. My left cheek pad doesn't stay secure when removing the helmet because the 3.5mm barrel is bulky.When I started using the Cardo Freecom 2x, I found the bass to be lacking, and needing the App opened every time to turn on 'bass boost'. I found a Paid Android App called Wavelet that allows fine tuning of the sound. Wavelet sets a configuration per Bluetooth device and opens when paired. For the EQ I'm using the Sony MDR-EX1000 at 88% to prevent distortion. Bass at 3.5dB. cutoff at 84Hz. There are hundreds of Auto EQ's to choose from, I'm including the Sony one here so others can use this as a starting point. This has greatly improved the sound performance of the JBL drivers included with the Freecom X2.I wish Cardo App has more customization like my Jabra App does for sound adjustment. Also the Cardo App needing to be opened just to load a simple bass boost shouldn't be needed. My Jabra's remember their built in EQ on all phones they connect to regardless of the Sound+ App being installed or not.

Sound is good and the install was super easy. Found this on sale for a great price and couldn't refuse.

The JBL speakers rock. Cranked up, they're too loud for my ears. They sound great, voice recognition is good even at high way speeds, GPS is easy to hear and the system is easy to learn how to use. I haven't used it as an intercom yet, but I'm sure it's just fine. Enjoy the riding season!

There are no dislikes about this system. The jbl speakers are both crisp and deep depending on the song. The connectivity to my z flip is no problem. I now have to use Bixby for the voice commands but very very useful. The buttons are simple to use with gloves and they give a nice feedback click and it also beeps in the speakers. I couldn't be happier. And glad I went with the freecom x just for the upgraded jbl speakers (80$ just for the speakers is crazy.)

These may be decent for a very quite bike but any type of sport set or aftermarket pipe/I take and you can’t hear anything. I have a set of skull candy ear pieces that were $29.99 that work a lot better. The mic on this will work better than a set of AirPods but if you are looking to listen to music or even hear the person that calls I would probably look at different options.
