Stay Connected, No Matter the Conditions

When you’re on the road, staying connected is key—especially when the elements try to throw you off course. A waterproof communicator ensures that your connection remains intact, no matter if you're riding through rain, mud, snow, or sunshine. Built to withstand tough conditions, these devices offer long-lasting, reliable performance by protecting your electronics from the harshest weather. Stay in touch with your group without worrying about the weather, ensuring your ride is smooth and uninterrupted.

IP67 vs. IP65: What’s the Difference?

The key to choosing the right communicator for your ride comes down to understanding IP ratings. Our Packtalk devices (Pro, Edge, Neo, Custom) feature an IP67 certification, meaning they can withstand being submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes without damage. On the other hand, devices with an IP65 rating (Freecom 4x, Freecom 2x, Spirit HD, Spirit) are protected from water jets but aren't designed to handle full submersion. Both ratings ensure complete dust protection, but IP67 offers superior water resistance, making it perfect for those who need extra durability in more extreme conditions.

FAQ

A waterproof communicator keeps you connected in any weather—rain, mud, snow, or sunshine. Its tough design protects the electronics, ensuring long-lasting, reliable performance.

It’s not just about durability; it’s about safety. A waterproof communicator guarantees you can stay in touch with your group, even in heavy rain or dusty trails, making it a crucial feature for riders in tough conditions.

With a waterproof communicator, you’ll ride worry-free, knowing your gear is built to handle the elements, extend its lifespan, and deliver uninterrupted performance. Plus, they often come with other advanced features like long battery life and Mesh technology.

The following devices have an IP67 certificate:

We also have devices with the IP65 certificate:

  • Freecom 4x
  • Freecom 2x
  • Spirit HD
  • Spirit

Now let’s dive into it a bit further. The difference between IP67 and IP65 ratings lies in their level of protection against dust and water:

IP67

  • Dust Protection: Completely dust-tight. No dust can get in, making it fully protected against dust.
  • Water Protection: Can handle being submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes without any damage.

IP65

  • Dust Protection: Also dust-tight, offering complete protection against dust.
  • Water Protection: Protected against water jets from any direction. This means it can resist a strong spray of water, but it shouldn’t be submerged.

If you're comparing IP65 and IP67, both offer strong protection and are great for outdoor use. However, the key difference lies in water resistance.

Both are great for outdoor use and keep out dust, but when it comes to water:

  • IP65 can handle water being sprayed at it.
  • IP67 is tougher—it can handle stronger water jets and even being dropped in water up to one meter deep for a short time.

So, IP67 gives you more water protection.

Correct! No matter what you throw at it, your waterproof device will take the beating and keep you connected. Rain, shine, mud, dust, or snow.

Depending on the level of IP, the device would be tested in the conditions it needs to hold in; for example, for IP67, we would submerge our PACKTALK PRO in water 1 meter deep for a duration of 30 minutes. After that time, the device will be extracted and tested for corrosion and water damage, and will make sure the unit still works.

The main unit is waterproof, but this doesn’t include accessories like the JBL speakers or microphone. We know rain happens, so if an accessory gets wet, dry it thoroughly. If you still have issues and your unit is under warranty, don’t hesitate to reach out to our customer support.

Here are some tips to keep your waterproof device in top shape:

  • Store your communicator at a comfortable room temperature, and make sure to charge your communicator at least once a quarter.
  • Clean the communicator with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened in an electronic-safe solution, avoiding abrasive materials, and power off before cleaning.
