A. Getting Started
What is Mesh Boost?
Mesh Boost is an addition on 3 features to your DMC capabilities, and a fresh look & feel for your intercom screens and experience on your Cardo Connect App. Mesh boost introduces:
- Expanded Group Size – Support for up to 31 members (previously 15), delivering the largest TRUE DMC network in the market—without compromising any existing DMC capabilities.
- Public Mesh – Join an open DMC network and communicate with nearby users without creating a private group.
- Remote Grouping – Create and manage DMC groups remotely using the Cardo Connect app.
- Enhanced User Experience – Updated app screens and workflows designed to support Mesh Boost features and simplify group management.

Listed here are the devices which are eligible for a Mesh Boost update -
- Cardo Venture
- Packtalk Pro
- Packtalk Pro 20 Years (RSD edition)
- Packtalk Edge / Ducati / Honda / Simpson / Louis
- Packtalk Edge ORV

Why is the update not available on certain products (SC EDGE / PT H-D)? How long will it take?
Both these Packtalk derivatives have slightly different software and features set. This means we need to develop a dedicated Mesh Boost release that is slightly different than our general one. Rest assured that these are not dramatically different than the current general release and should not take more than a few short months.
Do I need to update my device to use Mesh Boost?
Yes. Mesh Boost requires both
- The latest compatible Cardo Connect app version (ver. 9.1 and above)
- A firmware update for your unit (ver. 5.4 and above)
How do I know if my device supports Mesh Boost?
You can check your model's compatibility on the Cardo website or verify that your unit was upgraded via the settings main screen – if updated, it will be indicated under your unit’s name.
Will my existing DMC groups remain after upgrading?
No. Updating to Mesh Boost will delete all existing DMC groups on your device. Once updated, you will need to re-create your groups.
B. Public Mesh
What is Public Mesh?
Public Mesh is the easiest way to start a DMC conversation. Simply meet and start talking with nearby Cardo users—no setup, pairing, or private group creation required. Once in Public Mesh and within range, communication starts automatically. It provides the full DMC experience, including support for up to 31 members, the same reliable range, and proven communication stability, while eliminating the need to create a group first.
Why should I use Public Mesh?
Public Mesh lets you simply meet and start talking—no setup, pairing, or group creation required.
How do I join Public Mesh?
Open the Group List screen and select Public Mesh, which is pinned to the top of your screen.
Can I see who is connected to the call in Public Mesh?
No. Public Mesh is an open conversation. You'll only see one "Others" bubble on your group screen.
Why should I create a DMC group if I have Public Mesh?
A self-created DMC group is better when you want to communicate only with your own friends/riding buddies and avoid joining conversations from nearby groups in crowded areas.
C. My Own DMC Groups
Can I create my own DMC group?
Yes. Simply follow the on-screen guidelines in your Cardo Connect App, or via your unit’s intercom button.
How can I invite people to my group?
You can invite members via the Cardo Connect App, in one of 3 ways:
- Invitation Link
- QR Code
- Connect Nearby
Does joining a group start the conversation automatically?
Yes. Once you join or create a group, it becomes your active group and the DMC conversation starts automatically
Can I have multiple groups saved?
Yes. Multiple groups can be stored in the app, allowing you to switch between them without recreating them.
How do I know which group is currently active?
In the My Group screen, the active group is marked in blue highlight and a green status indicator.
How do I create or join another group?
From the Group List screen, you can create a new group or join an existing one at any time.
D. Mixed Groups
How can I add a non-Mesh Boost users to a group?
From your Cardo Connect App, choose the option “Connect Nearby”, then instruct the non-Mesh Boost user to start grouping. Make sure you are both physically present on-site and close to each other when performing this process.
When creating a group directly from the device, the Mesh Boost user should be the first to start the grouping process by pressing the Intercom button.
In a mixed group, does it matter who initiates the DMC group?
Yes. We recommend that the Mesh Boost unit will be the initiator of the group, to enjoy the better experience. Here are the suggested steps:
- When using the Cardo Connect app, the Mesh Boost user should initiate "Create Group” using the “Connect Nearby” option
- When creating a group directly from the device, the Mesh Boost user should be the first to start the grouping process by pressing the Intercom button.
This helps ensure the group is created with Mesh Boost capabilities whenever possible and provides the best overall group experience.
Are there any limitations in mixed groups (at least one group member doesn’t have Mesh-Boost version)?
Yes. When a group includes at least one non-Mesh Boost user:
- Group size is limited to 15 members
- Remote invitations are not available for non-Mesh Boost users
- Some Mesh Boost features may be unavailable
- For the best experience, the group should be created by a Mesh Boost user—either by initiating the group creation flow in the Cardo Connect app or by being the first user to start the grouping process from the device
E. Call Management
How do I leave an active DMC conversation?
You can leave a call using:
- The Cardo Connect app
- Voice commands, say “Hey Cardo, End Intercom”
- The device's Intercom button
How do I rejoin later?
Simply use the app, voice commands, or the Intercom button to rejoin your active group.
What is Private Chat?
Private Chat allows you communicate privately with a specific member from your group while remaining part of that group’s conversation.
Can I use Bluetooth Bridge and Music Sharing with Mesh Boost?
Yes. Bluetooth Bridge remains available, and Music Sharing can also be used within the group experience.
F. Internet and Connectivity
Do I need internet access for DMC?
No. DMC communication works without internet access.
Which Mesh Boost features require internet access?
Internet is required for:
- App updates
- Firmware updates
- Remote Grouping invitations and acceptance
What can I do without internet access?
You can:
- Use DMC communication
- Use Public Mesh
