If you're looking to capture your ride with the Insta360 ACE PRO while using your PACKTALK PRO, PACKTALK EDGE or PACKTALK NEO, you're in luck! Pairing these devices is straightforward and allows you to record video with clear audio directly from your PACKTALK microphone. Here's a quick guide on how to get started.
Setup: Connecting Insta360 ACE PRO to PACKTALK PRO/EDGE/NEO.
-
Start Phone Pairing on your PACKTALK.
-
Open the Pairing Screen on your Insta360 ACE PRO.
- Select Your PACKTALK PRO/EDGE/NEO when it appears on the Insta360 screen.
- You're Paired!
It's that simple.
Usage: Recording with PACKTALK PRO/EDGE/NEO
After pairing, you can use most voice commands from the Insta360 ACE PRO through the PACKTALK PRO/EDGE/NEO microphone (note: the "Take a photo" command doesn't work). We tested this setup, and the audio quality was clear, comparable to what you experience during a DMC intercom conversation. The only downside is that the recorded volume is a bit lower compared to the GoPro12.
Workaround for DMC Group Recording
Want to record your entire DMC group conversation? Here's how you can do it with a simple workaround:
- Switch to Bluetooth Intercom Mode on your PACKTALK PRO/EDGE/NEO.
- Start Intercom Pairing and open the pairing screen on your Insta360 ACE PRO.
- Select Your PACKTALK when it appears on the Insta360 screen.
- Switch Back to DMC Mode on your PACKTALK.
- Reconnect with the Insta360 ACE PRO by tapping the connection and then tapping the intercom button three times.
Now, when you start recording, all group members’ voices will be captured on the Insta360 ACE PRO video.
Limitations to Be Aware Of
- Music Playback: You cannot listen to music while the Insta360 ACE PRO is connected, as it causes extreme audio cut-offs.
- Voice Commands: During group conversations, all members can control the Insta360 ACE PRO, which may lead to unintended commands.
Summary
Pairing your Insta360 ACE PRO with the PACKTALK PRO/EDGE/NEO is effortless and effective for single-unit recordings. For group conversations, there's a workaround, but it requires switching modes. Unfortunately, simultaneous music playback and voice recording aren’t supported due to bandwidth limitations.
Whether you're riding solo or with a group, this setup lets you capture your adventures with clear audio straight from your unit. Happy riding and recording!
